JOB PURPOSE
To attract, facilitate and retain private sector investment in Lilongwe City and to create an enabling environment for local business. The officer will market LCC as an investment destination, manage investor relations and drive public –private partnerships that contribute to revenue generation.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collecting, analysing and disseminating information on investments and private sector development in the City.
- Supporting the formulation of investment guidelines
- Conducting research and analyzing potential and viable resource mobilization and investment opportunities for the Council.
- Maintaining a databank on small and medium enterprises, including investors and the private sector.
- Regulating and promoting small and medium-scale enterprises
- Registering, processing and coordinating new investment proposals.
- Providing technical advice to stakeholders to ensure the viability and profitability of all investments
- Supporting facilitation of investment activities to attract investors
- Assessing and ensuring that all investments are viable and profitable
- Supporting the sale and distribution of products produced in the City
- Preparing reports
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
- Familiarity with the Local Government Act, business licensing, and investment and Trade laws
- Ability to develop investment profiles and negotiate with investors and partners
- Focus on meeting investment and revenue targets
- Responsive and solution–driven approach to investor and business needs
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, Development studies or related field.
- 2 years’ experience in investment promotion, private sector development or business advisory.
